Port Huron’s newest public scam, the Wrigley Center, is once again under scrutiny due to recent controversies, raising more questions about safety standards and management practices.
Also adding fuel to the fire is the revelation that Port Huron Police Ofc. Chelsea Koehn, linked to the tragic murder of Josh Conant just yards from the Wrigley Center, was one of the responding officers to a recent brawl that broke out at the establishment, casting another dark shadow over the Wrigley Center’s reputation.
Dopey developer Larry Jones is also facing criticism for the venue’s $14 million budget, labeled by some as a “low-class Port Huron drinking establishment.” Concerns about federal investigations and investor reactions are adding to the growing unease.
Allegations of nonpayment to contractors, shoddy construction work, and ADA non-compliance have also been hounding the very questionable development, highlighting potential safety hazards for patrons, especially those with disabilities.
Jones, already under fire for past controversies surrounding his shady involvement with the Sperry’s building located downtown, is now accused of further questionable practices, including kickbacks to public officials and hush money paid to those with direct knowledge of the shiesty dealings tied to the development. Archived Times Herald articles further scrutinize Jones’s track record and paint a very concerning picture of a drunken charlatan who is in cahoots with local public officials to fleece the community of millions in public funds.
Residents are beginning to question what many see as a misuse of these public monies and a pattern of deceit among Jones and Port Huron officials. An email recently leaked from Renaissance Man Distillery, the former anchor tenant at the Wrigley Center that vacated the premises themselves due to low sales and attendance, contradicts Jones’s claims of success, adding to the skepticism surrounding the very dangerous Wrigley Center.
In the face of mounting concerns and shockingly low attendance, the Wrigley Center’s future remains uncertain at best. Local taxpayers are demanding transparency and accountability as they anticipate costly legal battles and further revelations about Larry Jones & Co.

What about the individuals who work there? You having a personal vendetta against Jones is one thing. But it doesn’t seem like you’re thinking or caring about those who work there.
